Doubt vs Faith
Do you ever struggle with doubt and faith? I do!
You see, I have faith in God but then He gave man free will. Sometimes I struggle to connect or separate the two concepts and that causes me to pray for forgiveness.
An Example of Faith
My wife has been ill for some time and has come through so much that many could not comprehend. Because of the severity of some of the medical issues she has there is no doubt that God has saved her and she has become one of His many miracles. Both she and I have faith and believe that God has been with her and guided her medical teams.
And Then There Was Doubt
Then there is “free will”. During my wife’s illness, I have spent a lot of time with her in hospitals and rehabilitation centers. I’ve also witnessed a lot of things that would make you cringe. Sometimes there are mistakes by doctors, sometimes there are mistakes by nurses and sometimes there are mistakes by staff. There have been other incidents of poor training, lack of continuity in care, and little to no communication.
Worry Sets In
The result is that worry sets in when you see so many things happening that are just not right. Often time these things could have severe consequences. So I pray for God to heal and be with my wife, I pray for guidance for the medical team and I believe God will do these things. Then I get concerned about the things that God doesn’t do but will allow because of “free will”. So, you see, I spend a lot of time praying for healing and a lot of time praying for forgiveness!
Do you ever find yourself in this situation? How do you handle it?
